On the threshold of a new world religion |
The nine truths of the New World Religion
The New World Religion will be founded on nine divine truths that have been perceived by religious thinkers all over the world and that together constitute the essence of the old religions.
These truths are unchanging, because they have a divine origin and reveal the nature of God. All religious ideas are based on these truths.
The first truth is:
1. The truth of God.
This is the truth of the highest reality, the first cause. He has many names: God, The Absolute, The One, The Great Spirit, The Creator, Allah , Parabrahman , Tao , Ahura Mazda, Dharmakaya, Waheguru, and many more.
This truth emphasises the transcendent nature of God. All that exists has been created by the Creator and is maintained by His Will. Yet, the Creator is greater than the Created, or expressed in the words of Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad-Gita: "Having pervaded this entire universe with a fragment of Myself, I remain." (10,42)
It is a common conception that there is no Creator in Buddhism. However, Buddha himself never denied that there is a Creator. On the contrary, he raised this matter above cosmological considerations. He said: "There is, monks, an unborn -- unbecome -- unmade -- unfabricated. If there were not that unborn -- unbecome -- unmade -- unfabricated, there would not be the case that emancipation from the born -- become -- made -- fabricated would be discerned. But precisely because there is an unborn -- unbecome -- unmade -- unfabricated, emancipation from the born -- become -- made -- fabricated is discerned." (Udana 8,3)
